Real World Fat Loss Part 2

Endurance Cardio vs. Interval Cardio
Endurance Training (Traditional Cardio Training) vs. Interval Training (Peak Metabolic Cardio Conditioning)
- 20 weeks of endurance training vs. 15 weeks of interval training
- Energy cost of ET = 28,661 calories burned (ENDURANCE)
- Energy cost of IT = 13,614 calories burned (INTERVAL)
- Interval training group showed a 9 times greater fat loss than the endurance training group
So, even though the interval group burned less than 1/2 the calories of the endurance group, they still burned 9 times more fat.
How can this be? Read on...
The "Fat Burning Zone" on trial.
- Peak Fat Burning occurs @ 63% VO2max
- Minimal Fat Bruning @ 82% VO2max - near lactate threshold
VO2max = maximal aerobic capacity or the bodies ability to transport and utilize oxygen maximmally during exercise.
So, what's the problem with the famed fat burning zone?
The problem is that everyone focuses on stored fuel usage (fat, carbs, sugar, muscle, etc...) during exercise instead of focusing on optimal fat burning as a fuel around the clock (all day).
In other words, burning fat the OTHER 23 hours of the day or what we at Peak call AFTERBURN - a.k.a: EPOC - Exercise Post Oxygen Consumption. Scientifically, this is recovery of metabolic rate back to pre-exercise levels" and EPOC can require several minutes for light exercise to several hours for intense intervals.
The effects of circuit training on EPOC:
12 sets of exercises for 31 minutes - conducted in "circuit style" consisting of a series of exercises performed one after the other without rest.
EPOC (a.k.a AFTERBURN) was elevated significantly for 38 hours post workout.

Cardiolattes |
Strengthens Every Cell? By: Micheal Boyle
Cardiolates.
When I saw this, I thought it must be a joke. A coffee drink designed to raise heart rate? I'd like a large cardiolate, with skim milk and Splenda.
Maybe a heart-attack inducing coffee drink? His heart raced after too many cardiolates.
No,
actually, cardiolates is short for cardiovascular Pilates. I have
Googled this phenomenon. What I found was both surprising and
perplexing. It seems that Cardiolates uses a rebounder (a
mini-trampoline) to do jogging-type exercises using the alignment
concepts learned from Pilates. So far so good, I guess.your readers. |

If your friends and family get fat, chances are you will too,
researchers report in a startling new study that suggests obesity is
"socially contagious" and can spread easily from person to person.

Post Workout Nutrition |
By John Berardi
You don't need to be a resource management
specialist to know that time is the most valuable finite resource that
you have. And as you well know, there's a very limited amount of it to
go around. So if you're smart, you'll figure out ways to get the
greatest return on the investment of your time.
While this may be well recognized and
applied in many aspects of modern life, it confuses me as to why people
seem to ignore this when it comes to their exercise training. From what
I see on a daily basis, it's clear to me that most people in the gym
are wasting their time and money investment. They're spending precious hours
engaged in strength or endurance training programs that yield little or
no results? often paying personal trainers to do the same. |

It's been great to be apart of the many success stories of our clients. It shows what can be accomplished when goals are set, accountability and motivation are offered and a results dirven fitnesss philosophy is implemented.
Each of you are an inspiration and on behalf of Team Peak, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of your success in fitness and life.
